In my study of the 'Day of the Lord' I came across this passage from Peter. I've read this passage plenty of times what I wanted to point out as Christians is verse 11 and 14.
2 Peter 3:10 - 14 "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him."
As a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ I know what the Word says about how things are going to end. Since I know this (as a believer) I need to live a holy and godly life. In other words knock off the nonsense and the desires of the flesh. Love God. Love others. I need to strive to be more Christ-like in my daily life. And when I fail, because I will and I do, I have the grace of our Lord to pick me up. The end result (verse 14) needs to be my daily pursuit. How about you?
